Filmmaking masterclass with award-winning Japanese actor/director Takeshi Kitano (北野 武) aka "Beat" Takeshi (ビートたけし). He is the director of such films as Violent Cop, Boiling Point, Sonatine, Hana-bi and Zatoichi.


Two school-age chums, Shinji and Masaru, spend most of their school days harassing fellow classmates, playing pranks, and sneaking to the movies. They decide to drop out and gain their fortunes in the outside world. Shinji becomes a small-time boxer, while Masaru joins up with a local Yakuza...

Violent Cop (その男、凶暴につき, Sono otoko, kyōbō ni tsuki?), meaning 'That man, atrociously being attacked' in English) is a 1989 Japanese film directed by and starring Takeshi Kitano. It was Kitano's directorial debut, and marked the beginning of his career as a filmmaker.
